Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, home to the Kīlauea Crater, is open, and by 10:30 last evening, there was a line of cars moving into the park, according to Park spokeswoman Jessica Ferracane.   Kīlauea began erupting around 9:30 p.m., with the eruption confined to the crater.

Ferracane said there are several places around the park where visitors may see the steam and glow from the volcano, although people cannot get as close to the eruption as they might want.

She reminds people that despite the opportunity to see an active volcano, visitors must wear masks when near others and maintain social distancing.  Some of the smaller viewing areas are closed because of the inability for people to stay distanced from each other.

There is no lava flowing outside of the crater.
