Police Initiate Murder Investigation Following Kona Shooting

Hawai‘i Island Police are investigating a fatal Keauhou shooting.

On the evening of May 25, 2021, police responded to a report of an unresponsive male party lying on the ground at Keauhou Kainaliu Beach Road, commonly known as “End of the World”.

The male victim was transported to the Hilo Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld pending the notification of the next of kin. An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

Detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigation Section are continuing the investigation, which has been classified as second degree murder.
