The Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) and the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation (HCF) have announced $1,475,000 in funding to support 30 community-based programs in Hawaiʻi through HTA’s 2022 Kukulu Ola program. Since 2010, HTA has provided $11 million in total funding to support 330 organizations and programs that preserve and perpetuate the Hawaiian culture.
This year’s awardees include qualified community groups, practitioners and craftspeople committed to strengthening a broader understanding and appreciation of Hawaiian culture through place-based activities and engagement on each island.
HTA selected the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation to administer its 2022 Kukulu Ola program for its experience in working with the arts and culture sector and the organization’s collective action approach through its CHANGE Framework. A request for proposals was issued on September 15, 2021 with submittals from applicants received by October 29, 2021.
