Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of July 11

The Department of Transportation has announced a number of lane closures throughout Hawaiʻi Island during the week of July 11, 2022.  Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  Below is a detailed list of scheduled roadwork and maintenance:

KANOELEHUA AVENUE (ROUTE 11) 

KEAAU

Single lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 3 and 6, E Palai Street and Wiliama Street, on Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for shoulder work.

KEAAU

Single lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 5 and 6, Ikaika Street and Wiliama Street, on Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

KEAAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 5 and 7, Ikaika Street and Keaau Loop, through Monday, July 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for shoulder stabilization work.

  MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

PAHALA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 56 and 58, Ninole Loop Road and Alanui Road, through Friday, July 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for grass cutting.

CAPTAIN COOK (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 93and 95, Ohia Malu Road and Kukui O Pae Place, through Monday, July 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree mulching and grass cutting.

CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 93and 96, Ohia Malu Road and Kaohe Road, on Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree mulching and grass cutting.

HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

HILO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 4 and 6, Kulana Kea Drive and Kaaukai Place, on Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree mulching, mowing, and shoulder work.

HILO (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 6 and 8, Kaaukai Place and Hanawi Street, through Monday, July 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree mulching, mowing, and shoulder work.

HAKALAU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction near mile marker 13.8, near Kolekole Beach Park through Friday, July 15, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for bridge repair work.

HONOMU (24/7 RESTRICTION)

Kolekole Bridge at mile marker 14.27 on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) is weight restricted to 12 tons (24,000 lbs.) until further notice. The speed limit in the area is reduced to 25 mph. See https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/weight-limit-for-kolekole-bridge-now-12-tons/ for details.

KALANIANAOLE AVENUE (ROUTE 19) 

HILO (NIGHT WORK)

Single lane closure on Kalanianaole Avenue (Route 19) possible in either direction between Kamehameha Avenue and Kauhane Avenue, on Monday evening, July 11 through Friday morning, July 15, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., for adjusting manholes, cold planing, resurfacing and reconstruction of existing pavement.

 

KEAAU-PAHOA ROAD/ PAHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

PAHOA

Single lane closure on Pahoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction near mile marker 15.4, Alaili Road, on Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for pavement and guardrail improvements.

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3.9 and 6.9, Saddle Road and Cross Island Road, on Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for shoulder widening, installation of rumble strips and other safety improvements.

KAMUELA

Right lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) in the southbound direction near mile marker 5.6, in the vicinity of Saddle Road, on Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for construction of a new access road.

AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) 

KOHALA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile markers 2and 7, Kaewa Place and Kaala Road through Monday, July 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for shoulder work, tree trimming, and general landscaping.

KOHALA

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile markers 5 and 10, Kohala Ranch Road and Kaiholena Place, on Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for shoulder work and tree trimming.
