Prosecutors charged 32 year-old Daesyn Pacheco-Muragin of Mountain View in relation to an August 15, 2022 traffic stop on Volcano Highway where he is alleged to have fled the scene prior to being apprehended.

Pacheco-Muragin was arrested for the outstanding felony information warrant in this case and another unrelated warrant.

As the Information alleges, Pacheco-Muragin was charged with Place to Keep Loaded Firearms Other Than Pistols and Revolvers (a .44 caliber Magnum rifle), Carrying or Possessing a Loaded Firearm on a Public Highway, Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree (possess any amount of methamphetamine), Prohibited Acts Related to Drug Paraphernalia, Driving Without a License, and three counts of Ownership or Possession of Ammunition Prohibited. Place to Keep Loaded Firearms Other Than Pistols and Revolvers, Carrying or Possessing a Loaded Firearm on a Public Highway, and Ownership or Possession Prohibited are all class B felony offenses which are punishable by ten years in prison. If convicted as charged, Pacheco-Muragin faces sentencing to a mandatory prison term and will not be eligible for probation.

The charges are merely allegations, and the Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The investigation was handled by Officers Alric Dalere and Rodney DeLima, Special Enforcement Unit, Area I Criminal Investigation Section, Hawai‘i Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Kevin Soong
