36 year-old Spenser Jordon Feary of Hilo was charged for the theft of a Honda Civic that was originally reported stolen from a Hilo residence on March 13, 2023.

At the time of his arrest, Feary was also arrested on multiple unrelated outstanding warrants.

As the Complaint alleges, Feary, who has prior felony convictions, was charged with Theft in the First Degree (theft of a motor vehicle, Honda Civic) and Unauthorized Control of a Propelled Vehicle in the First Degree. Theft in the First Degree is a class B felony offense and carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison. If convicted, Feary faces sentencing to a mandatory prison term and will not be eligible for probation.

The case was initiated by South Hilo Patrol and the follow up investigation and vehicle was recovered by Puna Patrol. The felony investigation was handled by Detective Paul Mangus, Area I Criminal Investigation Section, Hawai‘i Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Lucas Burns

The charges are merely allegations, and the Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
