Hawaiʻi County Lane Closure: Week of July 31

The Department of Transportation announced a number of Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of July 31, 2023. Lane closure schedules may change without notice at any time. All projects are weather permitting

KUAKINI HIGHWAY / MAMALOHA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

 PAHALA

Alternating closure of both lanes on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 11) between Mile Post 48 and 49, on Monday, July 31, through Friday, Aug. 4, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

KEAHOU

Alternating lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) in either direction between Mamalohoa Highway and Kuakini Highway, on Monday, July 31 through Friday, Aug. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for drainage improvements.

KAILUA-KONA

Single lane closure  on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Walua Road and Laaloa Avenue on Monday, July 31, through Friday, Aug.  4, from 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

 

HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

HAKALAU TO NINOLE

Single lane closureon Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Leopolino Road and Old Mamalahoa Highway, on Monday, July 31 through Friday Aug. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for repaving work.

NINOLE TO PAPAALOA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 19 and 21 on Monday, July 31 through Friday Aug. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. for vegetation cutting.

 HONOKAA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of Kalopa Road on Monday, July 31, through Friday, Aug. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. HECO will be replacing substandard utility poles and restringing overhead lines.

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of Kamuela Highway and Iokua Place Monday, July 31 through Friday Aug. 4 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for paving work.

MAMALOHA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

KAILUA-KONA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 16.92 and 26.02 on Monday, July 31 through Friday, Aug. 4 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for strengthening and extending shoulders.

 KALAOA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 190) possible in either direction in the vicinity of Kalaloa Street and Onaona Drive, on Monday, July 31 through Friday, Aug. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route250) possible in either direction between  mile marker 6 and 9 , Monday, July 31 through Friday Aug. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. forvegetation cutting.

KAMUELA

Alternating single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route250) possible in either direction between mile marker 6.17 and 10.6 , starting Monday, July 31, through Friday, Aug. 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for resurfacing and reconstruction of a weakened shoulder.

AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) 

KAMUELA

Alternating single lane closure  on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile post 7 and 14,on Monday, July 31, through Friday Aug. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
