The Kona Community Policing Section will hold its Annual HONOUR (Homeless Outreach Nurturing Our Community) Project today at 8 am.

The HONOUR project was created to provide Hawaiʻi County’s homeless population the opportunity to serve the community through service-based projects while working with other volunteers and leaders. The goal is to provide each individual the opportunity to feel empowered and rehabilitated through teamwork and accomplishment.

Today’s project includes painting and restoration of the main entrance gates to the old Kona Airport’s facilities and complex area where participants will re-paint the current gates to their usual “safety yellow” color to restore years of fade and corrosion.

For more information, contact Officer Wyattlane Nahale at (808) 326-4646, Ext. 259.
