Due to issues technical with checkpoint screening machines at Hilo International Airport (ITO) throughout New Years Day, the Department of Transportation is advising travelers to arrive at ITO a minimum of two hours prior to their flight departure today.

Although a technician is onsite fixing the issue, January 2 is expected to be an especially busy day for travel. Those departing from Hilo should give themselves ample time to make their flight.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
