Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of April 1

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of April 1, 2024. Lane closure schedules may change without notice at any time. All projects are weather permitting.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY/HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

 

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Volcano Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 13.6 and 14.4, beginning Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for application of new striping on the speed humps at Mountain View Elementary, Gas Station and Post Office.

 

VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction, between mile post 36 and 38, beginning Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

 

CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 91 and 92, in the vicinity of Hawaii Belt Road, beginning Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for tree trimming.

 

CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 97.2 to 104.7, in the vicinity of Haleili Street and Filipino Clubhouse Road, beginning Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for crews to work on safety improvements of the roadway.

 

 HAWAII BELT ROAD / KAWAIHAE ROAD/ QUEEN KAAHUMANU HIGHWAY 

 

HILO TO PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 2.7 and 6, in the vicinity of Pukihae Street and Old Mamalahoa Highway, beginning Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for mowing.

 

PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 6.2 and 6.4, in the vicinity of Kapue Stream Bridge, beginning Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for emergency repairs to Kapue Stream Bridge.

 

PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 7.08 and 7.12, in the vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Highway, for the installation of roadway striping on the speed hump at Haaheo Elementary School. The schedule for this work is as follows:

Monday, April 1 and Tuesday, April 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday, April 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Thursday, April 4 and Friday, April 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

 

HAKALAU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 14 and 16, in the vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Highway, beginning Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the tree trimming.

 

PAPAALOA TO OOKALA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 23 and 27.6, in the vicinity of Stevens Road, beginning Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applying new roadway striping and reflective markers.

 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 51 and 54, in the vicinity of Iokua Place, beginning Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for application of new roadway striping and reflective markers.

 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kawaihae Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 58.6 and 59, beginning Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for crews to install new roadway striping and reflective markers.

 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kawaihae Road/ Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 60 and 67, in the vicinity of Ohina Street and Akoni Pule Highway, beginning Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for grass cutting.

 

 KEAAU-PAHOA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

 

KEAAU

Single lane closure on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction, between mile post 0 to 4.2, in the vicinity of Hawaii Belt Road and Pohaku Drive, beginning Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5, for installation and upgrading of utility poles, conduits and traffic cabinets.

 

KEAAU TO PAHOA

Single lane closure on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Orchid Land Drive and Ainaloa Boulevard, beginning Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for mechanical mowing.

 

PAHOA

Single lane closure on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction, between mile post 11.3 to 11.5, for application of new striping on the speed hump at the intersection of Keaau-Pahoa Road and Post Office Road. The work schedule for the week is as follows:

Monday, April 1, and Tuesday, April 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday, April 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Thursday, April 4 and Friday, April 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

 

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction, between mile post 0.18 and 0.23, for crews to install new roadway striping on the speed hump at Ulu Laau Lane. The work schedule for the week is as follows:

Monday, April 1 and Tuesday, April 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday, April 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Thursday, April 4 and Friday, April 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

 

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction, between mile post 0.01 and 0.11, in the vicinity of Kawaihae Road and Hawaii Preparatory Academy Road, beginning Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for crews to installation of new roadway striping and reflective markers.

 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 6.17 and 10.6, beginning Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for crews to clean and dress the roadway shoulders and removal of Best Management Practices (BMP’s).

 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction, between mile post 9 and 14, beginning Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for tree trimming.

 

PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

 

HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Ave and Komohana Street, beginning Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving work.
