Hawai’i Island police are investigating a Kailua-Kona robbery that transpired at a shopping center located at the 75-5800 block of Ali‘i Drive early yesterday morning.

At 1:45 a.m. arriving officers located a 35-year-old Kailua-Kona man who said a male followed him and then threw him to the ground where he began kicking his legs and arms. The suspect then demanded all the victim’s money.

The victim, who sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by medics and subsequently transported via ambulance to the hospital for further evaluation, complied and handed the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash from his wallet.  The suspect then left the area on foot.

The male suspect was described to be approximately 160 lbs, with black curly hair, wearing a black shirt with black shorts.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or who may have witnessed it is urged to contact Officer Collin Roberts at (808) 326-4646, ext. 253; or via email at collin.roberts@hawaiicounty.gov.
