Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of June 3

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of June 3, 2024. Lane closure schedules may change without notice at any time. All projects are weather permitting.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

CAPTAIN COOK 

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 97 to 104, in the vicinity of Haleili Street and Filipino Clubhouse Road, on Monday, June 3 through Friday, June 7, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for crews to work on safety improvements on the roadway. 

  

 

HAWAII BELT ROAD / QUEEN KAAHUMANU HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19) 

PEPEEKEO TO HAKALAU 

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 10 to 15, in the vicinity of Chin Chuck Road, beginning Monday, June 3 through Friday, June 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for drilling and sampling the soil for future projects.   

HONOMU TO HAKALAU 

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 13 to 15, in the vicinity of Chin Chuck Road, beginning Monday, June 3 through Friday, June 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for shoulder and swale clearing and cleaning.  

LAUPAHOEHOE 

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 25 to 26, on Monday, June 3 through Wednesday, June 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping of the roadway.  

LAUPAHOEHOE TO OOKALA 

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 26 to 29, in the vicinity of Moonlight Road, beginning Monday, June 3 through Friday, June 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting. 

KAMUELA 

Single lane closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 67 to 68, in the vicinity of Kaunaoa Drive, beginning Monday, June 3 through Friday, June 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for aggradation removal at Mekehuna and Makeahua Bridges.  

 

 AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270)  

KOHALA 

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction, between mile post 2 to 7, in the vicinity of Kaewa Place, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., from Monday, June 3 to Friday, June 7, for swale repairs caused by storm damage.  

    PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

HILO (NIGHT WORK) 

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, from Monday, June 3, through Friday, June 7, nightly from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving as part of the Puainako Street Widening Project.
