The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of August 26, 2024. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

 

KANOELEHUA AVENUE /MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

 

CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 97 to 104, in the vicinity of Haleili Street and Filipino Clubhouse Road, on Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for crews to work on safety improvements on the roadway.

 

 HAWAII BELT ROAD/ QUEEN KAAHUMANU HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19) 

HILO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 2.60 to 2.61, in the vicinity Wailuku Bridge, on Tuesday, Aug. 27, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for Wailuku Bridge deck joint repair.

NINOLE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 17.62 to 18.57, on Wednesday, Aug. 28 through Friday, Aug. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for bridge maintenance and repairs.

PAPAALOA TO OOKALA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 24 to 29, in the vicinity of Papaa Loa Ave and Moonlight Road on Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting and shoulder work.

 

 KEALAKEHE PARKWAY (ROUTE 197) 

KAILUA KONA

Single lane closure on Kealakehe Parkway (Route 197) possible in either direction between mile post 0.17 to 0.40, in the vicinity of Kanalani Street, on Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for paving of new bike lane and signage installations.

 

 DANIEL K. INOUYE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 200)   

HILO

Alternating single lane closure on Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Route 200) possible in either direction between mile post 10.29 to 12.29, on Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for crews to apply new striping and raised pavement markers.

 

HILO

Alternating single lane closure on Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Route 200) possible in either direction between mile post 17.3 to 20.8, on Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for crews to apply new striping and raised pavement markers.

Single lane closure on Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Route 200) possible in either direction between mile post 18 to 22, on Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for shoulder work.

 AKAKA FALLS ROAD (ROUTE 220) 

HONOMU

Single lane closure on Akaka Falls Road (Route 220) possible in either direction, between mile post 3.5 to 3.7, on Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for crews to transition a residential roadway into State Highway 220.

 

KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction, between mile post 6.2 to 10.6, on Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for application of permanent striping as part of the Kohala Mountain Road Resurfacing project.

 

 AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) 

KAWAIHAE

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction, between mile post 0.5 to 3, in the vicinity of Spencer Beach Park Road on Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

Single lane closure on Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction, between mile post 11 to 15, in the vicinity of Lapakahi State Historical Park on Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for shoulder work and tree trimming.
