Hawaiʻi County Lane Closures: Week of October 7

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of October 7, 2024. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)  

HILO 

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction, between mile post 0 to 5, in the vicinity of Banyan Drive and Ikaika Lane, on Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for grass cutting. 

HILO 

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction, between mile post 1 to 5, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue, on Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting. 

HILO TO PAPAIKOU 

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction, between mile post 2.7 to 8, in the vicinity of Kanoa Street and Indian Tree Road, on Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for grass cutting. 

NAALEHU  

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction, between mile post 60.5 to 66, in the vicinity of   Kaulia Road, on Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting. 

NAALEHU  

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction, between mile post 65 to 66, in the vicinity of Kaalualu Road and Kaulia Road, on Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for grass cutting. 

HONAUNAU 

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction, between mile post 89 to 93, in the vicinity of Papalani Road and Ohia Malu Road, on Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for grass cutting and shoulder work. 

HONAUNAU 

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction, between mile post 97.2 to 104.7, in the vicinity of Haleili Street and the Filipino Clubhouse Road, on Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for safety upgrades to the roadway. 

  

KEAAU   

Single lane closure on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile post 3.8 to 5.1, on Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for restriping the intersection of Keaau-Pahoa Road and Shower Drive.  HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 190) 

KAILUA KONA 

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 190) possible in either direction, between mile post 19 to 20, on Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for cleaning of drains and embankments. 

PUUANAHULU 

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 190) possible in either direction, between mile post 20 to 21.4, on Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for tree trimming.  

 

DANIEL K. INOUYE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 200)   

WAIAKEA  

Single lane closure on Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Route 200) possible in either direction between mile post 7 to 10, on Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for vegetation cutting and shoulder work. 

POHAKULOA  

Single lane closure on Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Route 200) possible in either direction between mile post 12 to 16, on Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for shoulder work. 

 

  KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250)  

KAMUELA   

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction, between mile post 6.2 to 10.6, on Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for application of permanent striping as part of the Kohala Mountain Road Resurfacing project.   

HAWI 

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction, between mile post 14 to 19, in the vicinity of Puuhue Road and Banana Ranch Road on Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.   

HAWI 

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction, between mile post 19 to 19.2, in the vicinity of Akoni Pule Highway and Millstack Road on Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for grass cutting.   

  

   

PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000)   

HILO  

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving the roadway and doing shoulder work as part of the Puainako Street Widening Project.
