Hawaiʻi County Lane Closures: Week of December 16

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of December 16, 2024. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

VOLCANO ROAD/MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

 

KURITSTOWN

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 9.7 to 9.7, in the vicinity of Huina Road, Monday, Dec. 16 through Thursday, Dec. 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for maintaining crosswalks and pavement markings.

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 15 and 16, vicinity of North Kopua Road and North Peck Road, Monday, Dec. 16 through Friday, Dec. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for tree trimming and grass cutting.

NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 53 to 56, after Pahala town and Ninole Loop, Monday, Dec. 16 through Friday, Dec. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 86 to 88, in the vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Road and after Pahala town and Ninole Loop, Monday, Dec. 16 through Friday, Dec. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

KEOKEA-HONAUNAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 97.3 to 104.7, in the vicinity of Haleili Road and Filipino Clubhouse Road, on Monday, Dec. 16 through Friday, Dec. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for safety improvements.

 HAWAII BELT ROAD/KAWAIHAE ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

NINOLE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 17 to 19, in the vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Higway, on Monday, Dec. 16 through Friday, Dec. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

PAPAALOA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 22.5 to 22.7, in the vicinity of Uweki Road and Koi Loop, Wednesday, Dec. 17 through Thursday, Dec. 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for bridge maintenance and repair.

PAAUILO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 31 to 41, in the vicinity of Kalopa Road and Niupea Homestead Road, Monday, Dec. 16 through Friday, Dec. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting between cut sections and bridge approaches.

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY/PALANI ROAD (ROUTE 190) 

KAILUA KONA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 16 to 18, on Monday, Dec. 16 through Friday, Dec. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting and shoulder work.

KAILUA KONA

Single lane closure on Palani Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 35 to 38, in the vicinity of Ane Keohokalole Highway and Onaona Drive, on Monday, Dec. 16 through Friday, Dec. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting and tree trimming.

 

PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction between Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street Monday, Dec. 16 through Friday, Dec. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and shoulder work as part of the Puainako Street Improvements.
