The Department of Public Works will continue road paving on Makaʻala Street near the intersection with Kanoelehua Avenue today.

During the work, the Hilo-bound lane will be closed, and no turns will be allowed onto Makaʻala Street.

On Friday, the Puna-bound lane will be closed, while both turn lanes will remain open (see attachment for illustration).

Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, however paving will pause for the holidays beginning on December 23, and resuming on Thursday, Jan. 2.

Road paving in the industrial area began in November. The project includes resurfacing on Holomua, Poʻokela, Makaʻala and Wiwoʻole streets.
