First Annual HI-PAL Keiki Fun Run / Walk Taking Place Tomorrow

The Hawai‘i County Police Department’s Kona Community Policing Section, in collaboration with the Hawai‘i Island Police Activities League (HI-PAL), is holding the first-ever Keiki Fun Run/Walk in Kona tomorrow morning.

Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. at the West Hawai‘i Civic Center gazebo, with the Run/Walk taking place from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on the bike path along Ane Keohokalole Highway.

Keiki can compete in three age groups and events, including:

  • Ages 5-8: 200-yard dash course (family are welcome to accompany their child)
  • Ages 9-12: half-mile course
  • Ages 13-17: one-mile course

Refreshments and snacks will be provided after the races with each participant receiving a medal.

HI-PAL is a program of the Hawai‘i Police Department in which police officers interact with youth in various activities as mentors.
