Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of March 24

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of March 24, 2025. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting. In observance of Prince Jonah Kuhio Day there will be no contraflow set up on March 26 and no lane closures unless otherwise permitted.

 

VOLCANO ROAD/MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

 

VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 28.2 to 28.5, in the vicinity of Crater Rim Drive, on Monday, March 24 and Tuesday, March 25, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. for rumble strip installation.

3) NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 58 to 60, on Monday, March 24, Tuesday, March 25, Thursday, March 27, and Friday, March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

HONAUNAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 97.3 to 104.7, in the vicinity of Haleili Road and Filipino Clubhouse Road, on Monday, March 24, Tuesday, March 25, Thursday, March 27, and Friday, March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for safety improvements.

CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 110 to 110.8 in the vicinity of Onouli Road, on Monday, March 24, Tuesday, March 25, Thursday, March 27, and Friday, March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Department of Water to install a new waterline.

 HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

 

OOKALA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 28 to 30, on Monday, March 24, Tuesday, March 25, Thursday, March 27, and Friday, March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road, on Monday, March 24, Tuesday, March 25, Thursday, March 27, and Friday, March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and striping.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, on Monday, March 24, Tuesday, March 25, Thursday, March 27, and Friday, March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and striping.

 

 AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) 

 

KAWAIHAE

Single lane closure on Akoni Puli Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile post 0.1 to 0.9, in the vicinity of Queen Kaahumanu Highway, on Thursday, March 27 and Friday, March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for bridge inlet and outlet clearing.

KAWAIHAE

Single lane closure on Akoni Puli Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile post 0.3 to 0.8, in the vicinity of Spencer Beach Park Road, on Monday, March 24 and Tuesday, March 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for bridge inlet and outlet clearing.

—PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

 

HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction between mile post 0.5 to 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Monday, March 24, Tuesday, March 25 and Thursday, March 27, Friday, March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and shoulder work.
