The Laupāhoehoe Transfer Station will close for up to 10 months starting Monday, April 21 as significant improvements are made to the facility.

The construction contract, awarded to Isemoto Contracting for $2.57 million, addresses structural and safety concerns and improvements to user experience. Work will involve installing a new canopy, repaving, and constructing a new rubbish chute, retaining wall, concrete swale, and concrete pad.

The last day of operation for the Laupāhoehoe Transfer Station prior to construction will be April 20. It is expected to reopen for business in early 2026.

During construction, the Honomū Transfer Station (28-1844 Old Māmalahoa Highway) will be open on additional days to accommodate residents.
