Now and until further notice, the Department of Water Supply (DWS) has implemented a Mandatory 25% Water Restriction Notice for customers along Hawaiʻi Belt Road between the 14 and 15.5 mile markers, Māmalahoa Highway, Chin Chuck Road and Hanamalo Loop, along with any side roads and lanes, Hakalau, and South Hilo.

Water restriction measures are needed due significant reduction in spring flows and operational issues with the backup well.

Customers should stop irrigating, washing vehicles, and other unnecessary water uses while the water restriction is in effect.

DWS is currently hauling water to meet customers’ essential needs and may have to implement stricter restrictions should conditions warrant.
