The fourth annual Fill A Police Cruiser Food Drive is slated for Friday, August 29, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Kona Costco warehouse parking lot.

During the event, a blue and white marked police cruiser will be stationed in front of Costco, where members and the general public are encouraged to donate nonperishable food items.

All collected nonperishable food items and monetary donations will be distributed by the Food Basket, Hawai‘i Island’s food bank, to those in need across the island. The food drive was originally created in 2021, during the COVID-19 lockdown, to address the overwhelming need for food assistance within the community. That need has only continued to grow amid current economic challenges. This event provides an easy and excellent opportunity for residents to support their local community by donating essential items.

In the past four years, the Fill A Police Cruiser Food Drive has collected over 11,301 pounds of food and $18,958 in monetary donations. This year all donations will stay on Hawai‘i Island and benefit local families and individuals in need.

For more information, contact Officer Dwayne Sluss, from Kona’s Community Policing Section at 808-326-4646, ext. 259, or via email at dsluss@hawaiipolice.gov.
