Hawaiian Electric to replace Utility Poles in Kona

Beginning today, Hawaiian Electric crews will replace utility poles in Kona through Friday, October 17.

Further information regarding the project can be found below:

  • Oct. 6-7: Closure of the mauka lane of Hawai‘i Belt Road, between Akoni Drive and Kamehameha III Highway, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.
  • Oct. 15: Closure of the makai lane of Kuakini Highway, near the Kailua Village Condos just south of Hualalai Road, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
  • Oct. 16-17: Closure of the mauka lane of Kuakini Highway, near the Hawai‘i Belt Road intersection, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.

During this time, motorists are advised to use alternate routes and to drive with caution when approaching the work zones. Flagmen will be onsite to provide traffic control.
