Lindsey Vonn from Team USA takes 1st place during the Audi Fis Alpine Ski World Cup Women Super G Cortina d 'Ampezzo^ Italy January 24^ 2016

U.S. Ski & Snowboard on Thursday announced a 97-member roster that will represent the United States at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. The team includes 73 skiers and 24 snowboarders who will compete from Feb. 6–22 across venues in Milan, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Bormio, Livigno, Val di Fiemme and Valtellina, with a total of 116 medal events on the schedule.

Veterans Lindsey Vonn, Mikaela Shiffrin and Chloe Kim headline the roster. Vonn, 41, will skate into her fifth Olympic appearance following a remarkable return from retirement and a partial knee replacement, reestablishing herself as a medal contender in women’s alpine events. Shiffrin, the most decorated alpine skier in history, enters her fourth Games after a strong World Cup season that followed a disappointing 2022 Olympics. Kim, a two-time Olympic champion in snowboard halfpipe, is aiming to secure an unprecedented third straight gold, with officials expressing confidence she will be healthy in time after a recent shoulder injury.

Nearly half the team — 48 athletes — will be making their Olympic debuts, reflecting a blend of youth and experience. The age range spans from 15-year-old freestyle skier Abby Winterberger to 44-year-old snowboardcross rider Nick Baumgartner, who is set to compete in his fifth Olympics.

Other prominent names include cross-country star Jessie Diggins, a three-time Olympic medalist preparing for what she has said will be her final Games, and alpine skier Ryan Cochran-Siegle, a silver medalist from Beijing. Freestyle standouts Jaelin Kauf, Chris Lillis, Alex Hall, Nick Goepper and Alex Ferreira also return, as do snowboarders Red Gerard and Baumgartner, all of whom have Olympic medals on their resumes.

One notable omission is Jamie Anderson, a two-time Olympic gold medalist whose comeback bid fell short after injuries and a podium drought during the qualification period.

U.S. Ski & Snowboard president and CEO Sophie Goldschmidt praised the overall strength and depth of the squad, stating: “The athletes we are sending to the Games represent a large portion of Team USA and I am confident about the impact they will make in Italy”  Chief of sport Anouk Patty added that recent results across all disciplines made this “one of the strongest teams we have sent to the Games.”
