Bryan Flores of Puna who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the sexual assault of a minor.
The case stems from incidents that occurred between 2019 and 2022, while Flores was the minor’s muay thai coach.
On October 1, 2025, Flores appeared in Hilo Circuit where he entered a “Guilty plea” to the charge of Sexual Assault in the First Degree, a class A felony which carries a maximum penalty of a twenty-year prison term.
On Thursday, Flores appeared in Hilo Circuit Court where after hearing arguments, He was sentenced to the maximum penalty of twenty years and was also ordered to register as a sex offender.
Flores, who had remained out of custody for a majority of these proceedings on a $370,000 bond, was immediately taken into custody to begin serving his prison term.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Ha‘aheo Kaho‘ohalahala.
