US at top of worldwide COVID-19 cases: 93K

The Johns Hopkins Interactive COVID-19 Dashboard for Friday morning, Mar. 27, at 6:30 a.m. HST reports that worldwide, the number of COVID-19 cases is at 566,269. The United States leads the world at 92,932, surpassing China at 81,897 cases and Italy at 80,589.   The numbers change constantly as new data comes in.

In the U.S., the states with the most cases:

New York — 44,635

New Jersey — 6,876

Washington — 3,207

California — 3,006

Michigan–2,856

Louisiana is emerging as a COVID-19 hotspot, with the New Orleans Mardi Gras celebrations thought to have exacerbated the spread.  CNN reports that clusters at 6 nursing homes in the state are being monitored.

Hawaii has 106 confirmed cases, and labs–mostly private, but also state– have run more than 4,900 tests.
