The Johns Hopkins COVID-19 Dashboard for Sunday, October 11, at 5:23 a.m.:

Worldwide cases: 37,288,362   Worldwide deaths:  1,074,276

U.S. cases: 7,729,108   U.S. deaths:  214,573

According to the Dashboard, the reported worldwide case report increased by 329,658 in the last 24 hours.  Deaths worldwide increased by 4,961.

According to the Johns Hopkins Dashboard, the United States has added 58,689 cases in the last 24 hours.  In that time,  the number of reported deaths from  COVID-19 increased by 713.

Health experts are expressing concern that the daily case count increase in the United States has been above 50,000 for the last 4 days.  According to NBC News, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma and West Virginia all had record single-day increases in cases on Friday.

Health experts continue to point to the solution to the spread as being in the hands of every person–to wear a mask, avoid large gatherings, distance from others, and wash hands frequently.  In Hawaii, we have the benefit of being able to do much outside, unlike the mainland states where it’s getting colder.

The United States continues to lead the world in the number of COVID-19 cases, but India is a close second, with Brazil third.
