Next Mauna Loa Community Meeting Taking Place This Saturday

This Saturday, November 5, Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense and the USGS Hawaiʻi Volcano Observatory will host an additional “Mauna Loa Volcano Status Update and Community Discussion” from Noon to 2pm at Konawaena Elementary School located on 81-901 Onouli Road in Kealakekua.

The purpose of the event, which is free and open to the public, is to share information about Mauna Loa’s status and the County’s preparedness plan with members of the community.

Saturday’s event will be hosted by Talmadge Magno, Civil Defense Agency Administrator and Ken Hon Scientist in Charge at Hawaiʻi Volcano Observatory.
