Big Island Lane Closures: Week of January 23

The Department of Transportation has announced a number of lane closures throughout Hawaiʻi Island during the week of January 23, 2023. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

 

VOLCANO ROAD/MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

BETWEEN HILO AND KEAAU

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 3 and 6, E. Palai Street and vicinity of Kipimana Street, on Monday, Jan. 23, through Friday, Jan. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK TO PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamaloha Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 30 and 51.3, from the vicinity of Pii Mauna Drive to Kamani Street, on Monday, Jan. 23, through Friday, Jan. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for installation of cables on existing utility poles.

NORTH OF PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamaloha Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 43 and 45, on Monday, Jan. 23, through Friday, Jan. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

NORTH OF PAHALA (WEEKEND AND WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Mamaloha Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 45 and 47, on Saturday, Jan. 21, through Monday, Jan. 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

HONAUNAU TO CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 105 and 109, vicinity of Filipino Clubhouse Road to vicinity of Kiloa Road, on Monday, Jan. 23, through Friday, Jan. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

KUAKINI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

HONALO

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile marker 114, near West Honalo Road, on Monday, Jan. 23, through Friday, Jan. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for Kuakini Drainage Improvements.

HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

HAKALAU TO NINOLE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 14 and 20, vicinity of Kolekole Beach Park and 34-1122 Hawaii Belt Road, on Monday, Jan. 23, through Friday, Jan. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for vegetation cutting.

LAUPAHOEHOE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 23 and 28, Kapehu Road to vicinity of Stevens Road, on Monday, Jan. 23, through Friday, Jan. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving.

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

KAILUA-KONA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 30 and 32, vicinity of Makalei Golf Club to Makalei Drive, on Monday, Jan. 23, through Friday, Jan. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile markers 0 and 6, Kawaihae Road and vicinity of the Koaiʻa Tree Sanctuary, on Monday, Jan. 23, through Friday, Jan. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
