The state of Hawaii has 61 new confirmed COVID-19 cases.  The state’s cumulative total is 17,393.  The state is still reporting 233 deaths, which includes only 32 of the Big Island’s 49 deaths.

O’ahu added 45 new cases today, Hawaii residents out of state and Maui Island each added 4, and Kaua’i added one.  Neither Moloka’i nor Lana’i added any new cases.

Most of Kaua’i’s new cases are not community spread, but have been brought in by travelers.

The State report says the Big Island added 7 new cases, bringing the island’s total to 1,557.  In the past 14 days, the island had 146 new cases.

The Big Island cases are coming from community spread, not travelers, according to Hawaii County Civil Defense, and most are in people 40 and younger.  On Monday, Civil Defense reported that a cluster in Hilo included 14 people below the age of 25, and 4 children under age 10.  But in the past 14 days, 55 people in Kailua Kona have tested positive, the highest number for any district on the island.
