On Thursday, January 28, 2021, The Department of Water Supply will be conducting a fire hydrant flow test on Iliahi Street between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

A press release from the Water Supply says affected areas may experience slightly discolored and turbid water for several hours after the test. Customers are advised to refrain from washing clothes and to store a container of water for their drinking needs until the supply of water is restored to normal.

Affected locations include: Iliahi Street, between Wainaku Street and across Highway 19 to Pukihae Street; between Ōhai Street and Kauila Street including Lehua Street, Puʻuʻeo Street, Kanoa Street, Iʻiwi Lane, Wanaoa Lane and all side lanes and roads in South Hilo.

Those who may experience any unusual problems during or after the flushing are encouraged to call Carl Nishimura, District Supervisor, at 961-8790.
